Perfect for the sweet gift-giving season

*** A WORD FROM THE KITCHEN ***

After all the requests…and because I’m just a nice
gal ;o) I’m paying the toffee recipe forward to you
all that may have missed it in the past. So here it is…
then it gets tucked back away into the archives. You
definitely a candy thermometer though on this because
it is done as soon as it hits specifically exactly 300
degrees. You also need a to use approximately a 10×13
or 10×15 inch baking sheet for this recipe so it doesn’t
end up too thick or too thin.

This recipe makes a full pan and is plenty once you crack
it up. This is also the absolute perfect thing to wrap up
in some decorative cellophane and a little ribbon for a
personal holiday gift or gift topper.

Enjoy! Marzee

RECIPE: AWESOME HOMEMADE TOFFEE

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound of butter
1/2 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
16 ounces MILK chocolate chips

* candy thermometer

DIRECTIONS:
Bring first 4 ingredients to a boil over high heat in a
2-quart saucepan (nonstick works best) and stir constantly
until temperature on candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees
(approx 10-13 minutes). Pour into an ungreased 10×13 inch
baking sheet and spread evenly to coat. Will begin hardening
immediately so move quickly. Sprinkle milk chocolate chips
evenly over hot toffee and wait 1 minute till they begin to
melt. Spread softened chocolate evenly over entire pan (like
frosting) and chill for 2 hours. Slam pan once on counter
to crack and break apart into about 2-inch or smaller pieces.
Store chilled in a sealed plastic bag or container and let
get to room temperature before serving.

Makes 1 10×13 pan (* can also be cut in 1/2 but use smaller pan)

ANOTHER HOMEMADE HOLIDAY GIFT IDEA:

Here’s an inexpensive home-made gift for the Holidays.
Buy a package of plastic spoons, perferably in festive
colors. Dip them in chocolate (melted chocolate chips work
well) and shake off the excess. Place them on wax paper
and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy. After they dry,
wrap them in cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Put a few
spoons in a coffee mug along with some individual hot cocoa
or coffee packets and you have a great gift for those chilly
nights!
