Spiced up pumpkin seeds
*** A WORD FROM THE KITCHEN ***
Did you see the cookie decorating kits this year? Kind of
like a gingerbread house kit but chocolate haunted
house and creepy candies instead. We did one last night
with the twins that Grandma picked up and they really
had fun with it. Mommy not so fond of the black frosting
all over but it all came off and was bathtime anyway.
This was so quick easy and would definitely pre-Halloween
with this again. Just doesn’t end up being edible after
all that.
Well I can’t let a pumpkiny week go by without a recipe
for oven-roasting pumpkin seeds. Definitely pick your
pumpkin apart to scoop up those seeds and try this ROASTED
PUMPKIN SEEDS WITH A PUNCH! I’ll be toning them down for
the kids though ;o)
Enjoy! Marzee

pepper, cumin and salt. Add seeds to bowl and toss to

A FEW THINGS YOU GARLIC LOVERS SHOULD KNOW
* Chew parsley after eating a garlicky dish to get rid of
that garlic breath.
* Touch the garlic smell away: Just rub your hands on your
faucet or a stainless steel spoon and the odour will go
away!!!
* Crushing Garlic..Don’t hassle with peeling garlic for
crushing! Take a wide edge knife and pound the garlic
under it with your fist! If that doesn’t work, put the
garlic in a plastic bag and pound it with a mallet or
hammer…this works great!
* Did you know you can even nuke it! Microwave unpeeled
garlic cloves at 100 percent power 10 to 20 seconds,
cool, and store in a self-sealing plastic bag in the
coldest part of the refrigerator. Microwaving makes
garlic easier to peel and lessens the garlicky smell
on your hands. Use the garlic within two weeks.
HERE ARE SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT HALLOWEEN:
It’s not just for kids! Halloween While 82 percent of
children take part in Halloween festivities, a surprising
67 percent of adults also join in the fun.
Candy corn, anyone? With an estimated $ 1.93 billion in
candy sales, Halloween is the sweetest holiday of the year,
beating out Easter, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas. In fact,
one quarter of all the candy sold each year is purchased
between September 15 and November 10.
U.S. consumers spend as much as $ 1.5 billion on costumes
each year, and more than $ 2.5 billion on other Halloween
paraphernalia, such as decorations and crafts — more than
$ 100 million of which is spent online.
The first Halloween card was made in the early 1900s. These
days, U.S. consumers spend about $ 50 million on Halloween
greetings.
